Match Report: TNCA Under 19 Round Robin Match

 

We are going to watch the TNCA Under 19 round robin match played between Districts 1 and City 4 at Marina Cricket Ground in Chennai on 07.08.2014 & 08.08.2014. It was a two day match. First Innings limited to 90 overs per side. Second Innings unrestricted.

 

City 4 won the toss and elected to bowl first. Have a look at the images first. Let us meet after that! City bowled exceptionally well to bowl out the districts to a low score. What happenned next?

Districts 1 was bowled out for a low score of 148 in 55.4 overs. A. Godwin Rubesh alone managed to score 32. Left Arm Spinner R. Adhithya picked 5 wickets for 56 runs from 21.4 overs. Right arm Off Spinner S. Porselvan took 4 wickets for 46 runs from 20 overs.

City was bowled out for a paltry score of 55 in 26.5 overs. U. Manikandan picked 4 Wickets for 26 runs from 9 overs. Sai Kishore and Hemanth kumar took 3 wickets each for 10runs and 9runs from 10 overs and 4.5 overs respectively.

We witnessed third innings of the match in the first day itself! What should have had been the game plan for Districts to clinch victory? and for City to save the match?

City was required to score 170 to win the match in a minimum of 53 overs. Had they chased? What happenned next? The target was looking achievable! but in the 4th innings of a match?

City was bowled out for 114 in 39.1 overs. K.R Abhishek  scored 28 for City. S. Porselvan scored 27 Not out which included a biggie against the speedster. Manikandan picked 4 wickets for 14 runs from 9 overs and Sai Kishore picked 5 wickets for 53 runs from 18.1 overs. Districts 1 beat City 4 by 55 runs.
