The first round matches of Vasan Estates’ Kalidas T20 Inter- Districts’ tournament were played on 29.06.2016 in JJ College of Engineering A & B, Ordinance Factory, Trichy Ground, M.A.M College of Engg & Tech, National Institute of Technology grounds. The current champions Coimbatore and runners-up Kancheepuram got the bye and seeded in top and bottom spots respectively.
Champions Coimbatore was set to take on the winners of the match between Ramanathapuram and Dharmapuri while the Runners Kanchipuram was set to take on the winners of the match between Tiruvannamalai and Salem
